response to "Your Gamete, Myself"

I personally think that if people are unable to conceive or whatever that they should adopt rather than get an egg donor. It costs so much money to get a donor and to adopt. So if someone is going to spend tons of moeny to get a child, why not save a littl child's life or give a child a good home instead of just creating a brand new child. So many children are orphans and it seems cruel to use and egg donor knowing there are so many children that need to be adopted. I understand that maybe they want to see a resemblence of the child in the family or make it easier on the child to be birthed into a family instead of just brought into one. However there are many young children and babies that need to be adopted that would most likely have a better time going into a new family than not having a family at all. Also there is no guarantee the child will look anythign like the parents so why not adopt anyway. I dont know i know there are some reasons that are personal or whatever i jsut think that knowing there are so many children out there that need homes, why not invest in giving them a good life and home instead of just making a new child.

Thoughts on "Facebook: Why I Hate It..."

The first sentence in this essay made me think of how much time i ahve wasted on facebook too. She has a point, if you really think about the time spent on putting pics on and looking at other peoples pics etc... it really does seem like a waste of life. Everyone is different however when they approach facebook. Sarah Kliff, the writer of this essay, says how she spent an "inordinate amount of time" worryign about things like her profile etc. Although i myself have spent time on my profile, information, pics etc...i dont' spend hours adn hours trying to decided what to put on and whether the world will care about what i have put on or not. Atleast Sarah has admitted that facebook has a good communicative value. Although people can easily spend way too much time on facebook, it realyl isa good way to keep in touch with old friends and also get to know new friends. When you meet someone new that you don't really know but you know you will get to know them eventually, you jsut add them as a friend on facebook and read about them so you can geta glimpse of who they are, it really is helpful when you see them again. Like Sarah, as much as a waste of time facebook can be, i soo could never jsut delete it and be disconnected from the some 400 friends i have. I guess wasting time on facebook, although not really wanting to waste time like that, is worth it in the long run.
